Travel Inspiration #13 - Guanajuato

I miss it there. I miss the constant sunshine during the day and the soothing rains at night. I miss my apartment on top the hill viewing all the world below and the predictable gusts of wind that blew through our windows the same time every evening. I miss the humming birds, the music and the colors. I miss the coffee breaks in town. I miss enjoying life and everything I learned while I was there. You never know what you have till it's gone. Travel Inspiring Movie

Just got done watching The Darjeeling Limited by Wes Anderson. The story is about three brothers taking a spiritual journey on a train through India. The movie had it's funny parts. But the best part of the whole movie was the compositions and camera placements. I'm a sucker for that type of thing. And the detailing was excellent! Great movie for the creative traveler.

Something that is not a shocker is the fact that I am a horrible cook and spend no time in the kitchen. The closest I get to cooking is sprinkling a dash of pepper onto a frozen chicken breast straight out of a bag and saying the word BAM! But there is one cook I do love - Anthony Bourdain. His new season of No Reservations starts back up this Monday July 7th and good thing too because this summer's show selection needed some spicing up. Besides the obvious reason why I enjoy his show - hello, awesome locations - I also really get a huge kick out of his sarcastic sense of humor and that he likes to diss on Rachel Ray. Not only does his laid back personality reflect on screen but in his travel blog as well. Aww, something to aspire to.

A couple people I know just got back from India.
I love looking through others photos, it takes you out of reality for a split second.

If only I had first class plane tickets to anywhere in the world.
Oh and of course more than 5 days left of vacation...sigh.

Inspiration #3

As I filed through stacks of art in a local air conditioned art gallery on the beaches of San Pedro, I still found myself shaking my fist at the dang airliner that made me pay cash after they had lost my reservation online. If only I had that extra $70 I could have some delightful masterpieces. I fingered the measly few coins and salt water soaked Belize bills in my pocket. It ate away at the inner artist.

But nope. I settled for this brown handmade paper with brightly colored paintings of everyday life, festivals, and iconic figures. I'm fairly pleased with my buy and proudly march it home to add to my collection.

As I unpack, I unroll my newly precious gift to myself and look it over. Oh wait, what is it that the couple and the donkey are prancing around so merrily in the upper portion of the painting?

HA! I had to laugh, it just made itself into a conversation piece.
